With its diversity, the association covers the fields of oceanography, limnology, hydrology, offshore oil/gas, offshore wind and underwater technology.

The Subsea Monitoring Network e.V. offers the following services in particular as part of its objectives:

• Development of customized underwater components or systems
• Provision of a comprehensive infrastructure for testing and trialing underwater technology
• Initiation of research and development projects
• Technical consulting
• Project coordination

Competence profile of the network

Oceanography / Limnology / Hydrology / Offshore:

Development and production of specific measurement technology products for underwater applications in water depths of up to 6000m:

• sensors
• component specific firm- and software
• metrological services

Offshore oil/gas and subsea technology:

The focus is on the engineering of extensive oil/gas projects and the production of systems and components.

The products of partner firms emphazise the bandwith in which components are used for different underwater applications of the "subsea monitoring":

• Sampling devices (water, sediment)
• Sensors for recording physical, chemical and optical parameters
• Underwater equipment carriers (ROV, AUV, other UUV)

With the capabilities of engineering comprehensive systems and manufacturing components for underwater use, complex systems can be adressed in the network.
